8 Decades
of enabling an artistic voice
for those in need.
Photographs, Documents, Audio, Video

Josephine Herrick began her Project on September 16, 1941 when she taught her first defense photography class, a few months before the start of World War II. Little could she have imagined that 75 years on, her project would still thrive — teaching photography and enabling a voice for military veterans, children with learning disabilities, and other underserved individuals facing physical and psychological challenges.

This timeline and photo roll is a testament to Josephine Herrick’s vision and spirit and to that of countless other souls who have sustained our organization over the last 8 decades to today and onward…
