Miriam Leuchter, Executive Director

Miriam Leuchter is a journalist, editorial consultant, and photographer. Before stepping into executive director role at JHP, she served as faculty-in-residence at the Photographic Center Northwest and as the editor–in–chief of Popular Photography and American Photo, where she led these brands’ print and digital magazines, websites, college editions, mobile apps, social presence, video, books, and other editorial content. The author of Take Your Best Shot: Essential Tips & Tricks for Shooting Amazing Photos (Weldon Owen, 2011), Miriam has served as a juror on many international photography competitions, and her own work has been published and exhibited in the United States and Europe.


 

Wendy Correa, Program Director

Wendy is a Queens,New York, native who has moved from street photographer recognized by the Metropolitan Museum of Art to photo producer in the hip hop industry producing works for select publications such as Vibe, King, and Scratch Magazine. Besides serving as a Josephine Herrick Project teaching artist for many years, she has taught at NYU and the Bronx Documentary Center. As Chief Operator of the start-up boutique, EarthSeaWarrior, she enhanced the branding aesthetic of companies such as Apple and Urban Outfitters. She recently worked as a photo editor and shoot producer for Essence and Ebony.


 

Jealyn McFadden, Program Coordinator

Jealyn is a freelance photographer who loves working with their Queer and Trans community. He has photographed various drag shows, non-profits, clubs, concerts, editorials, and much more. In previous roles, Jealyn has operated communications for Brooklyn Community Pride Center, Scalabrini International Migration Network, and taught at the Neon Tea Party. They are also co-producer of Lil Park Drag Show, an outdoor drag show centering Trans-youth. Aside from drag and photography Jealyn studies film, hoping to bring their craft into a new medium.


 

Gianna Santelli, Development Director

Gianna has worked in fundraising for over a decade but her introduction to the practice started when she was just a teenager. She raised her first $1,000 in high school by organizing a fundraiser for the NYC AIDS Walk. 

Today, Gianna has worked for a variety of missions including education, healthcare and workforce development.  She has produced large scale events, managed government grant submissions, maintained donor databases and crafted many successful year-end campaigns. She also believes in the power of a handwritten thank you note. 

When she isn't working, you can find Gianna in her home state of New Jersey with her cat, Amber. She enjoys watching mid-century movies, hosting gatherings of friends and playing Scrabble with her family.
